Is it really invisible on screen share?
Yes. Promptly's overlay and dictation pill use the same OS-level display affinity that protected video players use, so capture APIs — Zoom, Meet, Teams, OBS, even the Snipping Tool — receive frames without them. Does Promptly join or record the call?
No. Nothing joins the call and it doesn’t touch the meeting app or the browser: it listens through your own computer and shows help in a window only you see. Use it where outside help is allowed. Many interviews, exams and proctored tests don’t allow it, and some log when focus leaves the browser, so follow the rules of every interview, exam or meeting.
Do the answers sound like AI?
They're tuned hard against it: spoken register, contractions, your real numbers and project names, no “leverage synergies.” You can also give Promptly standing style rules it applies to every answer.
What happens to my audio?
Interview audio is transcribed in short chunks and never stored; the teleprompter's voice sync runs on your machine; its cloud fallback is off unless you turn it on. Your résumé and notes stay local and ride along only inside your own requests.
How does dictation work?
System-wide voice typing, included with Base and Pro. Hold Ctrl + Win (Control + Option on a Mac) in any app, speak, release — your words are transcribed while you talk, cleaned up (fillers and false starts removed, punctuation fixed, “new paragraph” honored), and typed at your cursor under a second after you let go. Dictation audio counts toward your plan's monthly listening hours and is never stored.
How do AI meeting notes work?
While Promptly listens to a call, hit “Notes” and the whole meeting so far becomes structured markdown — a TL;DR, key points, decisions, and action items with owners. Notes save to a local library on your machine, and no bot joins the meeting. Included with Base and Pro.
What does Resume Tailor do?
Give it your résumé (PDF, Word, or LaTeX) and a job description. It rewrites the sections you choose — titles, bullets, skills, summary, projects — toward that job, and shows every rewrite next to your original so you keep whichever reads better, line by line. Anything it had to fill in is highlighted so you can check it first. “Tighten to fit” keeps it to one page, and you download a PDF (or the .tex). Free includes 3 tailorings to try; Base gets 20 a month and Pro 60, and credit packs top up any plan.
What counts as a demo interview?
A demo interview starts the first time you use Promptly — a question, Screen or Listen — and lasts until you’ve been away for 2 hours, so one interview or call is one demo. Ask as many questions as you like inside it. Free includes three.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes — one click in the billing portal, no retention flows, no emails to support. Your plan runs to the end of the paid period and simply doesn't renew.
Which platforms?
Windows 10 and 11, and macOS 13.5 or later on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, with any meeting app that plays audio through your machine.
How do I sign in to the app?
Open Promptly and click “Get started free” — or “Already have an account? Sign in”. Your browser opens, you sign in or create an account, and the app unlocks on its own. You can also paste the license key from your account page: in Promptly, click “Have a license key?”.
Windows says “Windows protected your PC” — is the download safe?
Yes. The installer is code-signed by LUMINARIS SYSTEMS LLC and timestamped — check the signature in the file's Properties → Digital Signatures. SmartScreen shows that notice for any newly released file until it builds download history with Microsoft. Click More info, confirm the publisher reads LUMINARIS SYSTEMS LLC, then Run anyway.
